Today was the second day of the StarChefs International Chefs Congress and the big excitement was the announcement of the three pastry chefs who were going to advance to the final on Tuesday for a chance to win over $10,000 in cash and prizes. Congratulations are in order for Jennifer Yee (formerly of SHO Shaun Hergatt, DessertBuzz feature is here), Salvatore Martone, (L’atelier de Joel Robuchon) and Aya Fukai (Waldorf Astoria Chicago). After the announcement Johnny Iuzzini explained how much respect he had for these chefs and remarked that “to go through this competition in these conditions, in an armory [is just very difficult]“.
